The Black Chamber of Arizona Begins President/CEO Search

The Black Chamber of Arizona (BCAZ), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the economic development of the business entrepreneurs and communities they serve, has begun the search for its next President and CEO.

“The Black Chamber of Arizona serves as the cornerstone for educational training, resource programs and economic growth opportunities for the African-American community,” said Marchelle Franklin, BCAZ board chair. “We are looking for a President and CEO with strong organizational and strategic planning skills and a successful track record for engaging, partnering and building alliances with a wide range of constituencies and influencers.” 

This is an exceptional opportunity for a remarkable business professional to lead the BCAZ. The BCAZ serves to facilitate the economic empowerment of the African-American business community in Arizona and its members through the promotion of entrepreneurship on a variety of levels. These include, but are not limited to, offering leadership and advocacy in efforts regarding economic, political and social issues as well as facilitating relationships between members, existing Black-owned businesses and the Arizona corporate community. In addition, the President and CEO will help attract local, national and international opportunities for Black-owned enterprises.

“Our focus is on advocacy, business development and entrepreneur training for our members,” said Franklin. “We advocate for legislative policies that support Black business growth and we are committed to helping Black business leaders achieve stellar performance through  entrepreneur and business management training.”

The BCAZ President and CEO will report to the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. In this role, the President/CEO will be responsible for operational planning and implementation of the Chamber’s strategic plan, and organizing and directing the economic development and public policy activities of the Chamber and its members.

In addition to stellar leadership, at least a Bachelors degree and 7-10 years of management experience, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of current and possible future practices, trends and other information affecting the business sector. Also, an ability to understand competitive and economic issues, the political landscape and how collaborative strategies among organizations work in the marketplace is a plus. Finally, the ability to recognize and understand value propositions for chamber membership; and exhibit creative vision, leadership, excellent management and high collaborative interpersonal skills is needed. It goes without saying that the ideal candidate will possess an impeccable personal and professional reputation.
